The gloves are on for Jessops photo paper

Jessops, the UK’s biggest specialist photographic equipment and supplies retailer, has announced a new range of heavyweight photo ink-jet papers.

The paper now boasts a weight of 260 grams per square metre (gsm) compared to previous supplies at 216gsm. Jessops also tell us that the paper offers instant drying.

Jessops say they are confident that users will experience brighter and cleaner colours. Colin Martin, Jessops marketing director, commented: “We believe this is one of the best heavyweight inkjet photo papers you can buy. The combination of vivid sharp results achieved and the heavy paper weight help to make inkjet prints both lool and feel like a real photograph. We’re sure it will be extremely popular with our customers.”

A4 and A3 and 6x4 inch packs are available, with - for example, 20 A4 sheets is priced £8.99.

Jessops is offering sample packs for us to review and we will report back in due course. It ought to be pointed out that different ink-jet printers behave unpredictably with certain types of paper. Don’t buy huge amounts of untested paper! It might be a good idea to ask your local Jessops store which printers work best with their paper. Our tests show that some printers, like Canon’s, otherwise excellent, S800 photo ink-jet printer is difficult to configure for third party paper.
