Kodak’s new slimline digicam

2 megapixels is officially the designer number for digital cameras. Look at the Nikon Coolpix 2500, the Minolta Dimage X, Canon’s Digital Ixus range and now Kodak’s LS420 limited edition slimline 2 megapixel model. The LS420 is set apart from Kodak’s current DX range of chunkily-styled cameras. Long and slim, the LS420 couldn’t be more different. However, it does retain the EasyShare docking system. Only a 3x digital zoom is featured on the £249.99 LS420. Voice annotation and video clips can be stored in the 8MB internal memory or via an optional SD/MMC memory card. We saw a pre production unit at CeBIT last month and it’s every bit as cute looking in real life as it is in the picture above. Like its 2 megapixel style rivals, the LS420 is more aimed at the fashion conscious fun photographer than a serious snapper. Part of Kodak’s strategy is to make buyers compare the LS420’s compact and stylish dimensions to that of the latest trendy mobile phones. It looks like the Jessops photo store chain will have exclusive supplies of the LS420 when it starts shipping in the UK in mid-May. Click here for the official press release.
