DPN serves up its first million pages

It’s just over 8 months since Digital Photography Now was launched and we can proudly mark the passing of a notable milestone; yesterday afternoon we served our millionth page.

Even better, while the first half a million of that total took six months to accrue, the second half a million took just two months.

We’ve had generous support and encouragement from many sources, notably Olympus, Canon, Hewlett-Packard, Adobe Systems, Ulead Systems, Peak Distribution, Lowepro UK and 1&1 Web hosting, among others. We’re also indebted to the help and inspiration from the guys at What Digital Camera magazine, the crew at dcphotolab.com and Phil Askey of dpreview.com fame, who helped us launch DPN with a hefty shove on 13th August, 2001.

We’re proud to be ranked in google.com’s top ten digital camera sites and to the best of our knowledge, DPN is the most popular UK-centric digital photography magazine on the Web.

DPN has grown and prospered without any significant financial investment from a third party. DPN is the product of organic growth on the Internet. We have income, but we’re not making a profit just yet, but the prospects genuinely look good.

We now greet 10,000 uniquely identifiable visitors to the site every week, many of whom return repeatedly, making total visits to the site well over 100,000 a month. And the growth remains strong.

Above all, we thank these people the most, for without you, our readers, DPN would be without purpose.

Digital Photography Now has a lot of developing and expansion to do yet and we don’t have any laurels to sit on. But we can guarantee we’ll be celebrating our second million pages a lot quicker than the first!
