New Service Will Help Photopgraphers 'Make More Money' From Disc Only Weddings

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS who offer their clients a "disc only" option can now benefit financially when their clients buy albums of their special day, thanks to a new service to be launched at the SWPP Convention by album specialists PhotoValue.

'The 3XM Solution' and 'Wedding Album Boutique'  is a brand new and believed to be unique web-based service through which brides can order a wide range of top quality albums with their photographer receiving a commission on each purchase.

Explains sales and marketing director Ronan Ryle: "It can be very time consuming for a photographer to create a great wedding album for his or her clients which is why more and more of them are providing copies of the images they shoot on CD.

"This arrangement has a number of advantages for the photographer but it does mean that in many cases they are effectively giving away their copyright and as a result potentially missing out on a not insignificant amount of money.

"Our new service helps ensure that they get the best of both worlds – they don't have to spend time at the computer creating albums but they get the financial benefit when an album is ordered."

How does it work? Photographers provide their clients with images taken at their wedding on a custom designed 8GB jewelled 'Memory Heart' USB. Within the USB packaging, which has also been specially created, is a printed brochure giving them full information about how to order their album. Crucially, there's also a licence key which links all orders back to their photographer so that not only does he or she receive a revenue share on everything the couple buy but also on everything friends and family buy.

Says Ronan: "This is a very attractive proposition for both photographers and their clients.

"Clients have a wide selection of album styles and designs to choose from and can either put the whole thing together themselves or can choose the album and leave the design to our expert team. A digital proof of the album is sent once it has been created and the finished album is sent directly to their home.

"Apart from uploading the images to the 3XM cloud server, the photographer does not have to commit valuable time in order to benefit.

"But there are other big benefits for photographers, too," adds Ronan. "We will put their names on the 'Find a Photographer' page on the Wedding Album Boutique website which will help bring them business from brides-to-be who have yet to choose their photographer.

"And, especially important these days with social networking so essential to promoting any business, we'll put up to 30 images on a slide show which can be uploaded on to the bride's Facebook page. This will also feature the photographer's details so that every time the slide show is seen by one of the bride's friends, they see the photographer's name, too."

The cost to photographers is modest. For £120, or just £24 per wedding including VAT and delivery, they will receive the '3XM 5 Wedding Pack', which includes:
