LITE-ON announce impressively portable new SOHW-832SX 8x External DVD Dual Drive with DVD+R Double Layer Burning Support

(July 14 2004) LITE-ON have implemented DVD+R DL (Double Layer) burning, the latest DVD recording technology, into their latest external DVD Dual Drive – the LITE-ON SOHW-832SX. Using a USB 2.0 interface, the SOHW-832x allows users to record up to 8.5GB of data or up to 4-hours of DVD-quality video on one DVD+R DL disc - with double the recordable capacity than a single-layer DVD+R disc (4.7GB, 2 hour DVD video).

With the SOHW-832SX you don't need to prepare 2 blank DVD+R discs to backup the same-size contents. The SOHW-832SX can also write single-layer DVD+R or DVD-R media at 8x maximum speed, rewrite DVD+RW or DVD-RW media at 4x, and read DVD-ROM media at 12x. It takes less than ten minutes to back-up 4.7GB of data on a certified single-layer DVD+R or DVD-R media at 8x.

With impressively small dimensions the SOHW-832SX is easily portable (W x H x D = 168 x 58 x 192 mm). It can help to save you a lot of time and trouble for data storage on the move.
