(May 17 2004) Leading Optical Manufacturer LITEON IT announce the implementation of double-layer burning for their ATAPI/E-IDE 8X DVD drives with the launch of their versatile, easy to use SOHW-832S Dual Drive DVD/CD, Player/Recorder.

This innovative product offers both the professional and home user the ability to store video, audio, images & all types of data files onto any type of DVD and CD in both single or the new double layer format, that’s double the usual 4.7GB of video storage per DVD.

Equipped with built-in power saving function a 2MB buffer and SMART-BURN under-run protection it’s easy to create a DVD or CD of all your data at the push of a button.

The SDW-431SX key features:
1. The drive is supplied with 2MB of SMART-BURN buffer technology to eliminate under-run at high write speeds and provide stable DVD recording.
2. Bundled with Ahead Nero Express 6 software for great media compatibility.
3. Delivers up to 8.5GB of storage per double layer disc
4. The unit will record onto ANY recordable disc format using LITEON IT’s patented technology - see table below.
