Hi-Tec Announce Final Monthly Winner Of ‘Inspire Me’ Photography Competition

April 2011 – British outdoor brand Hi-Tec has announced that Jonathan Baet, a registered nurse from Red Lodge, near Newmarket, Suffolk, has won its ‘Inspire Me’ photography competition for March.

The competition, which launched in April 2011, aims to find the nation’s favourite outdoor, walking or hiking image. The judges chose Jonathan’s photo entitled, Tranquillity at Burnham Overy Staithe, due to the serene colours of the soft sunset light and mirror-like water reflecting the scenery and a fellow outdoor enthusiast.

Over the past 12 months a Hi-Tec judging panel has chosen its favourite photograph from every month with each winner receiving a top of the range pair of Hi-Tec walking boots.

With the competition now closed, this May, all 12 winning entries will go head to head in a bid to find the most inspiring picture of the year – with the winner heading off on a fantastic HF Holiday family walking trip worth over £1000.

Upon winning the March award, Jonathan, 46, said; "I was elated when I got the message that I had won."

He added: "I was speeding towards Burnham to shoot the sunset and almost got a speeding ticket in King's Lynn. I slowed down thereafter but knew I would miss the beautiful sunset.

“I need not have worried, as I was utterly inspired by the ebbing tide and how the light was reflecting the scenes of boats going nowhere. I was fortunate enough to spy on this image of a dedicated photographer's reflection as she stood there in the mud with her tripod in the rising tide at Burnham Overy Staithe. That's dedication if ever I’ve seen it. "
