Hi-Tec Announce November Winner Of ‘Inspire Me’ Photography Competition

JANUARY 2011 – British outdoor brand Hi-Tec has announced that Simon Bull from Hathersage, Derbyshire, has won its ‘Inspire Me’ photography competition for December.

The competition, which launched in April, aims to find the nation’s favourite outdoor, walking or hiking image.  The judges chose Simon’s photo titled, Last Rays of Daylight, due to the atmospheric feel of the photo and the clever use modern camera technology to create an almost ancient feel.

Each month a Hi-Tec judging panel will choose their favourite photograph - with the lucky winner receiving a top of the range pair of Hi-Tec walking boots. This April, all 12 winning entries will go head to head in a bid to find the most inspiring picture of the year – with the winner heading off on a fantastic HF Holiday family walking trip worth over £1000.

Upon winning the December award, Simon, a former primary school teacher, said; “I'm absolutely delighted and honoured that my image 'Last Rays of Daylight' has been chosen as December's winning image. Thank you Hi-Tec!”

He added: “The image was taken below Stanage Edge at the end of the day - a well-known walking and climbing area of the Derbyshire Peak District - and within walking distance from my front door, so I frequently find myself up on Stanage in all weathers and through the seasons of the year! The millstones are from an age gone by and can be found scattered about below this ridge. They are, of course, used as the symbol for the Peak National Park. For this image, I used a technique known as HDR (High Dynamic Range) Photography which helps to bring out the textures and creates an almost 'painterly' feel.”

To enter the competition, entrants just need to visit www.hi-tec.com/uk to upload their image, and there is no limit to the number of entries that can be submitted.  All entries will appear on the Hi-Tec website and Facebook page.
