andyelliot would probably say that his favourite subjects for photography are birds of prey, but I accompanied him on a crisp late afternoon before Christmas to photograph water fowl at the Welney WWT reserve north of Cambridge. And my favourite from his collection of shots is not of the big beasts - swans and geese - but these little Pochard ducks. They are dutifully facing west to catch the fading rays of the sun as it sets. The line of three Pochard, with the centre one still blessed with sunshine, is an attractive composition. My only note is that Andy has over-compressed these shots so you will see some JPEG compression artefacts if you look at the full size shot in his gallery. Andy recently posted some of his shots from that day to the forum.
