escallonia, who is retired and from Folkestone in Kent, kicks things off on the DPNow.com Picture of the Day this week with a remarkably vibrant study of some pink geraniums showing evidence of recent rain. I'll be up front and say that I do see a little evidence of over-sharpening but I think it wold be churlish to let this devalue what is a vert striking and attractive picture for flower lovers. I'm sure escallonia could reproduce the image with the sharpening moderated. The exposure is pretty much spot-on and the light has endowed the petals with a luminosity that complements the colour.
