The Hasselblad Masters 2012 competition is entering the final straight

It has been a long wait for the 110 Masters Finalists 2012 but with the end of public and jury voting and the beginning of the count of votes, the competition is nearing the finish line.

Earlier this year, the 2500 applicants to the Masters competition were narrowed down to 110 Masters Finalists for 2012. But the jury faced an even more challenging task while selecting the eleven Masters Award winners since the quality of submissions for the Masters program has increased steadily over the last several years.

The judges for the Masters competition represent a diverse mix of professions such as former Hasselblad Masters and other distinguished members of the photo industry, all of them highly qualified to choose among the manifold images in each category. This year the distinguished members of the jury include: Anne Geddes (AUS), Mark Holthusen (USA), Alex&Felix (Switzerland), Lyle Owerko (Canada), Joachim Ladefoged (Denmark), Tim Flach (UK), Thomas Gerwers (Germany), Peter Bialobrzeski (Germany), Grant Scott (UK), Joao Carlos (Portugal), Ripley&Ripley (UK), Mark Zibert (Canada), Efrem Raimondi (Italy), Colin Prior (UK), Nina Berman (USA), Xie Mo (China), Danqing Wen (China), Sean Conboy (UK) and Jonathan Roguemore (USA).

The counting of the votes and evaluation of the results are the last steps before the Masters winners will be announced on January 9th. Once the winners have been named, all eleven Masters 2012 will then be equipped with a Hasselblad H4D camera, lenses and Phocus software to work on their Masters project. The theme of the project will also be announced on January 9th. Once completed, all projects will be published in the Masters Book 2012 and presented in a special exhibition in September at photokina in Cologne.
