strontiian - (real name Jim) has been featured on the DPNow.com Picture of the Day before, and his subject was the same as today - the beautiful and charming Robin (the European variety). Last time he caught a robin cheekily looking over its shoulder. There is a three dimensional quality to Jim's robin here and it's beautifully focused, with a characteristic pose and expression. Maybe the background could have been defocused more for better 'bokeh' but I think that is a relatively minor criticism. Personally, I can't get enough of Jim's robins!

We are always on the look out for great pictures posted to the user-galleries here on DPNow. POTDs are selected from the gallery and featured every week day. The gallery facility here is completely free; all you need to do is register as a user on our discussion forum and you will get an automatic 25MB of space, which is good for around 125 pictures uploaded at web resolution, about 200K per picture. At the time of writing we had almost 18,000 pictures on the galleries and it's well worth a browse.
