coupekid - or Ben as we known him here on DPNow - is particularly rated for his animal photography, from pets to real wild animals, including birds of prey and wolves. So here we have something out of the ordinary from Ben, although a helicopter like this would not be far from his heart as he's also a bit of a petrol-head (hence his username). This is a very dramatic shot and the man in the title can be seen peaking out of the door to the left. The blur of the rotor blades gives a crucial sense of motion while the attitude of the big lifter chopper gives an impression of spectacular low altitude flying. It makes you want to be there to witness this beast for yourself! The fact that the chopper more than fills the frame is also in its favour.

We are always on the look out for great pictures posted to the user-galleries here on DPNow. POTDs are selected from the gallery and featured every week day. The gallery facility here is completely free; all you need to do is register as a user on our discussion forum and you will get an automatic 25MB of space, which is good for around 125 pictures uploaded at web resolution, about 200K per picture.
