Portfolio Powers Photolibrary with a difference - 1dpi unique service launches at Picture Buyers Fair
Northampton: 15 May, 2003 – A unique photolibrary, being launched today at the Picture Buyers Fair by company 1dpi, is powered by Portfolio from Extensis. The functionality of this asset management tool allows 1dpi to establish both a website and catalogued CD of the images it has to offer.
1dpi has been established to promote and sell images on the Internet from leading travel photographers. The intention of the company is to provide a rights protected library specialising in high quality photography that offers a friendly and personal service to clients.
Upon recommendation, 1dpi chose to use Portfolio to establish both its online image library and catalogued CD. “The most appealing aspect of Portfolio is that it serves all our purposes in one package,” comments 1dpi Visual Director Linda Whitwam. “We have established an extensive library in Portfolio which can then be published to our HTML web server using PortWeb or automatically collected and burnt to CD.”
Clients using 1dpi can browse online using up to 3 keywords or category searches. With its Internet credit/debit card facility, images are available online 24 hrs a day 7 days a week on a global basis. Once ordered, clients can either receive a jpeg image by email or request a tiff file on CD.
Linda continues, “at the end of the summer clients will be able to browse our library without going online, via an easy to deploy CD containing thumbnails of all our images. The functionality of Portfolio has allowed us to realise our goals and produce an easy to use photolibrary that combines state of the art technology with old fashioned customer service.”
