Panasonic launches the high-definition AG-HMC81

Panasonic unveils versatile, cost-effective shoulder camcorder for European Market

Launch of high-definition AG-HMC81 model creates new opportunities for professional users

Amsterdam - 10. September 2010 - Panasonic Marketing Europe GmbH is using its presence at IBC in Amsterdam to launch its AG-HMC81 camcorder to European broadcast industry professionals. First previewed at NAB in April, the AG-HMC81 will be demonstrated on the Panasonic stand at IBC, ahead of its introduction to the market this October. The camera is designed to meet the growing needs of industry professionals to allow more flexibility in capture, in both SD and HD.

IBC marks the European debut of the AVCHD AG-HMC81 camcorder which will be available in the market this October at a RRP of €2.550 excl. VAT.  The model’s versatility in recording standard definition to solid-state DV Codec as well as recording in HD makes the camcorder ideal for those requiring support in both formats. It delivers the full benefits of AVCCAM for schools, event videographers, government facilities, web designers and corporate users who prefer to work with a shoulder-mount camcorder but who also need flexible connectivity options.

Jerome Berrard, Director, Panasonic AV Systems Europe said: “The camcorder technology that we are unveiling in Europe comes in direct response to changing market needs and a wider range of uses. At Panasonic we are focused on technology that allows industry professionals to take full advantage of the broadcast IT evolution and broaden the opportunities and access to HD technology. We will continue to grow our range of camcorder technology to deliver even more production flexibility in the capture and creation of content.”

The HMC-81 allows professionals to maintain direct control over the content that they have generated, through a range of interface options for editing or playback. This includes the facility to transfer content directly to Mac or PC via the camera’s SD card or via a USB 2.0 interface.

As part of its camcorder line-up at the show, Panasonic will also be demonstrating the AJ-HPX3100, a compact shoulder mounted HD camcorder featuring P2 solid-state memory card recording, which will also be available in Europe in October.
