London, (April, 2004) – LaCie, a leading producer of storage devices, will begin shipping in April a new, faster DVD±RW drive designed by the talented team at Porsche Design GmbH. The LaCie Slim Dual DVD±RW Drive is now available with fast 4x write speed and comes equipped with FireWire® or USB 2.0 interface for easy connection to any PC or Macintosh. LaCie’s first mobile device to combine DVD-RW and DVD+RW technologies, this lightweight, all-in-one drive offers four DVD formats in a slender, handheld device, affording customers the benefits of mobile DVD recording at desktop speeds.
Featuring a slim, travel-sized body that is smaller than a DVD case, the
LaCie USB 2.0 Slim DVD±RW Drive is ideal for use with notebook PCs, and for a variety applications including sharing information with clients, or transferring data from home to the office. With significantly faster 4x write speed, users can back up 4.7GB of nearly all types of data in less than 15 minutes. The included software package also allows customers to create, copy* and view personal DVD-Video discs.
The LaCie FireWire Slim DVD±RW Drive operates with any Mac or PC equipped with Firewire or iLink connectivity, and comes complete with a comprehensive software suite for creating professional-quality, interactive video DVDs. Using the power provided by the FireWire bus, this drive can operate without an AC adapter, providing further mobility when travel is required.
Availability
LaCie Slim 4x Dual DVD±RW Drives are scheduled to begin shipping in April , 2004 at SRP £137 excl VAT.
A software suite for PC will ship with the USB 2.0 LaCie Slim DVD±RW Drive that includes DVDMax Player 2.0 and Roxio Easy CD Creator 6.2. A software suite for Mac and PC will ship with the FireWire Slim DVD±RW Drive that includes new Roxio Toast Lite 6.0 for Mac, Easy CD Creator Basic, and DVDMax Player 2.0.
