Imation Launches FlashGO! 2.0 Universal USB Flash Memory Card Reader
Compact device ideal for music, digital photography and personal storage applications both for mobile and desktop applications.
Bracknell, 6th May 2003 - Imation Corp. has announced the launch of FlashGO! 2.0, a USB 1.1 and 2.0, multi-slot, flash memory card reader/writer that is able to transfer data 40 times faster than FlashGO! 1.0. The new card supports six flash memory card formats, including Compact Flash (Type I and II), Smart Media, Multimedia Card, Secure Digital and Memory Stick and IBM's Microdrive.
The launch of FlashGO! 2.0 ends the memory card format concerns of consumers buying a new digital camera, PDA or MP3 player, or anyone who already has multiple devices with different memory card formats. The original popular FlashGO! single slot card reader was specifically designed to support storage needs of mobile computer users, utilising adapters for all major card formats. This new device combines compact size and desktop design with multi-slot-functionality to match needs of multi-device owners.
FlashGO! 2.0 is the perfect solution for the quick up and download of data stored on memory card formats. Being multi-slot, the device also enables users to transfer data from one memory card format to another. The USB port provides easy plug and play convenience for most of the current operating systems, including Windows 98, 98SE, ME 2000, Windows XP, Mac OS 8.6, OS 9.0 and OS X 10.1.
The device comes with a CD containing drivers for all systems requiring a driver installation before use. Just 6.3 cm wide, 9.6 cm long and 1.3 cm high, FlashGO! 2.0 fulfils the demands of both desktop and mobile PC users. An external power supply is not required as FlashGO! uses USB bus power supply. The device is available now in the UK at an approximate retail price of £30.
