Today, Tom is our featured photographer on the DPNow Picture of the Day. There has been a thread on the DPNow forum debating the merits of a picture of a Moorhen, a common site with the swans in rivers, lakes, ponds and canals in the UK. That debate focused on the need for a better picture to be based on a more interesting subject than a Moorhen going around its normal routine business. Tom's picture of a swan is a great example of how photo of a creature like a swan can be transformed from ordinary into something very special. Besides excellent photography and post-processing of the image, maintaining all the subtle tones of the swan's plumage, the composition is superb. Yes, there may have been an element of luck in getting the swan as it it snaked its neck will preening, but patience and anticipation have paid off. Well done Tom!
