Mowgli is our featured photographer on the DPNow Picture of the Day. We have been running a challenges and assignments thread on the forum with the topic of limited depth of field blur. This picture was not initially posted in that thread, but it's an ideal example of the technique and was later included. But when I first saw this image, it wasn't actually the 'bokeh' blur that caught my eye, but the range of colours melting in to each other. The flower itself is almost incidental.

We are always on the look out for great pictures posted to the user-galleries here on DPNow. POTDs are selected from the gallery and featured every week day. The gallery facility here is completely free; all you need to do is register as a user on our discussion forum and you will get an automatic 25MB of space, which is good for around 125 pictures uploaded at web resolution, about 200K per picture. At the time of writing we had just over 12,000 pictures on the galleries and it's well worth a browse.

At the end of each month we will select our favourite image of the month and declare a Picture of the Month.

Our ultimate accolade, the DPNow Golden Gallery, is reserved for what we feel are the very finest images. We invite anyone to submit their pictures for inclusion in the Golden Gallery.
