David Knox is our featured photographer on the DPNow Picture of the Day and we have another example of his work in Colombia.
Last time from David we had a charming black and white portrait of a young Colombian girl, from Raquira, Boyaca. , is most charming. This time, in a night time colour image, David has used a half second shutter speed to capture the moving flame being waved by what he describes as city street clowns. The traces of the flames contrast sharply with the blue tone of the lighting in the shops on the street in the background. Nothing, apart from some detail in the flames, is sharp in this picture, but it's dynamic and powerful. You can see more images of Colombian people in David's gallery here on DPNow.
Would you like one of your pictures featured on DPNow's POTD?
We are always on the look out for great pictures posted to the user-galleries here on DPNow. POTDs are selected from the gallery and featured every week day. The gallery facility here is completely free; all you need to do is register as a user on our discussion forum and you will get an automatic 25MB of space, which is good for around 125 pictures uploaded at web resolution, about 200K per picture. At the time of writing we had just over 12,000 pictures on the galleries and it's well worth a browse.
Picture of the month
At the end of each month we will select our favourite image of the month and declare a Picture of the Month.
