Our featured photographer on the DPNow Picture of the Day is Mick Johnson, who describes himself as an amateur photographer from Staffordshire. As an action motorbike shot, Mick's shot conveys the drama of the speed and is captured near-perfectly. I can hear some saying - it would have been even better if the rider was facing towards the camera, but I actually like the view as it is.
Mick explains: "It was taken at Cadwell Park this year at the British Superbike meet.
It's Leon Camier going over the 'Mountain' section as it's called. It's a very steep hill, indeed, with a sharp crest, where they, or most, riders get airborne, or 'out of shape' as they say. Taken with a Canon EOS-40D, 300mm f2.8 + 1.4x converter, f6.3, 1/320 sec."
I'm actually surprised that Mick got such a sharp capture at only 1/320th, but I can't argue with the sharpness of the picture.
Mick's other photographic subjects of interest are rather distant from bikes; birds and landscapes!
You can see more of Mick Johnson's work in his DPNow gallery - and it's well worth a look.
