Over 40 captioned pictures from the show
It's only been three weeks since I returned from Las Vegas and all the glitz and glamour that city bestows on the annual PMA show, which can justifiably claim to be the world's largest annual photo trade show. The largest photo industry show of all is Photokina, but that's only held every other year - it's on this year in September, incidentally. But we have a pretty impressive annual event here in the UK at the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre (NEC) and it finishes on Wednesday.

Nikon stayed faithful to Focus and has been proven right with the return of rivals Canon and Olympus this year.
I was at the opening day yesterday and below is my pictorial report, gallery-style, for you to peruse. The good news is that Canon is back in a big way after skipping the show for a couple of years. Olympus has a decent sized stand for the first time in many years while Nikon continue their traditionally big presence. Pentax is still missing but DSLR partner Sigma is there, while Sony chose not to attend this year. The organisers say the show attendance is up already and there are more exhibitors than ever.
Although I have featured 41 pictures from the show below not everyone interesting managed to get included. If you are interested in getting the colours right on your screen and in your prints, don't miss the Colour Confidence stand, for example. I managed to miss an opportunity to snap the impressive Bogen Imaging stand, which features Kata bags, Manfrotto and Gitzo tripods and much more. Delkin Devices are there with their excellent range of memory cards, card readers and novel camera accessories. And there's Fotoware, with their digital asset management solutions, Fujifilm UK, Fotospeed - showing ink jet papers, Kaiser accessories and much more.
The great thing for the public is that the show is a big market place and there are definitely show bargains to be had like Epson R2400 A3+ printers for under £400, for example.
And I was impressed by the quality of the stands - some companies had bigger and better stands than at PMA.
If you are wondering if the show is worth a visit, why not have a look around the show below and decide for yourself?:
