ASDA expands its high speed digital photo service
Release Issued by Sony:

Sony brings affordable, accessible and convenient photo printing to an additional 100 ASDA stores in the UK

Basingstoke, UK - December 2007– Sony today announced state-of-the-art digital photo printing kiosks will now feature in a further 100 ASDA stores.  In time for printing all those holiday season pictures, shoppers in 230 towns and cities across the UK can now print high quality 4”x6” photos at approximately 3.5 seconds each using the two Sony UP-DR150 printing units housed in each kiosk, without having to go out of their way and waste precious time.

Following the success of the initial 130 ASDA store installation, completed in July 2007, phase II has gone a step further and brought rapid photo printing to stores without any previous photo services.

“For smaller stores, ASDA mini-labs are often not a viable option due to the valuable retail floor space they require and the number of specialist staff needed to man the labs”, said Raj Pandya, B2B Channel General Manager for Sony UK.  “Sony’s print kiosks provided the opportunity for ASDA to bring a printing facility to all of its stores”.

Designed to maximise both time and convenience, shoppers can also locate their nearest ASDA print kiosks through Sony’s online Multimap service at www.printbysony.net/storelocator.

“Since the start of the initial trial, a staggering nine million digital photo prints have been produced, demonstrating the popularity of these facilities with our customers. Installing additional Sony print kiosks allows us to bring even more customers an affordable, accessible and convenient photo printing solution,” said Jeremy Stacey, Photo Buying Manager for ASDA.
