Release Issued by HP:

HP Puts Award-Winning A3+ Photo Printer In-Store For Photographers to ‘Try Before You Buy’

London, 3 July, 2007 – HP today revealed that it has teamed up with 30 retailers across the country to offer professional photographers the chance to try the HP Photosmart Pro B9180 A3+ printer in-store.

With eight, high capacity individual pigment-based HP Vivera Inks and enhanced media compatibility including canvas, this leading printer allows photographers to produce stunning images that will last more than 200 years – according to Wilhelm (www.wilhelm-research.com), helping them succeed in the increasingly competitive professional photography market.

The printer won the prestigious Technical Imaging Press Association (TIPA) award for best A3+ printer in Europe in 2006.

Photographers will now be able to test the HP Photosmart Pro B9180’s high quality, instant dry, durable, waterproof prints in-store and compare them with printed output from rival brands.

Additionally, HP is offering a ‘buy and try’ option to photographers. Customers have the option to have the printer collected by HP in the first 30 days for a full refund, less £15 handling fee, if they’re not satisfied with the product.

Mark Sims, warehouse manager of the Digital Depot in Stevenage, which has been running the scheme since the beginning of the year, said: “Since we started with the promotion our customers have consistently chosen the HP Photosmart Pro B9180 above our other A3+ printers. From their feedback we can tell they want a printer that can not only produce quality colour but also impressive black & white prints at a cost effective price.”

Tim Potter, market manager, specialist photo printers, HP, said: “The HP Photosmart Pro B9180 is a product that proves its worth once photographers try it, both in colour and black & white photography. The best thing we can do to promote this printer is simply let people use it. Once photographers have seen the gallery-quality results achievable with the printer, I’m convinced they won’t want any other model.”
