Travel Light With The Revio Kd-420z
Introduction
Released by Konica Minolta:

Shoot Fast, Travel Light With The Revio Kd-420z

A new digital camera, the first since the official integration of Konica and Minolta in Europe, has been announced. It is the Revio KD-420Z. A 4.0 megapixel model with a 3 x optical zoom lens, it boasts the world’s fastest start-up time of just 0.9 seconds , a newly designed lens and a wide range of shooting functions all housed in a chic, ultra slim, 23mm wide stainless steel and aluminium body.

One of the most notable features of the KD-420Z, apart from faithful reproduction of images, is its exceptionally fast performance. This has been made possible by a new Signal Processing Engine which boots in only 0.7 seconds, and finishes autofocus/auto-exposure adjustments in about 0.2 seconds, making the KD-420Z the worlds fastest camera in its class. Ready for action almost as soon as it is switched on, the KD-420Z will ensure that users need never miss a photo opportunity.

The numerous easy-to-use shooting functions include a Scene Select Mode that automatically adjusts the camera to one of six selected programs – Portrait, Landscape, Nightscape, Snap, Sports and Angel, the latter being a shutter priority mode that enhances skin tones, perfect for child or portrait photography. Super Continuous Mode allows up to 3 shots to be recorded at 2.5 frames per second and, with a large capacity memory card installed, lengthy movies can be shot using the Unlimited Movie function. The camera also features the popular Dual Slot, which supports both SD Memory Card and Memory Stick and the macro feature allows images to be taken from as close as 5 cm.

Advanced users will appreciate the Manual Exposure Mode with automatic noise reduction, and many other functions that allow photographers to capture exactly the image they want. The choices include program or aperture priority mode, fixed focus, auto bracket, custom settings and switchable colour effects which allow the user to choose black and white or sepia modes as well as warm or cold colour effects to enhance portraits or scenic shots respectively.

“This is the most remarkable digital camera yet in the Revio range. It combines the world’s smallest size, the world’s fastest start-up time and an array of auto and manual functions for the enthusiast, at the same time being a very easy to use camera for the novice” says Sarah Estall, Marketing Manager of Konica Minolta Photo Imaging UK Ltd. “Add to that the fact that its elegant, unisex design make this a highly desirable life-style product, and you have a winner.”

Despite its compact design, the optical 3X GT HEXANON zoom lens delivers images with outstanding detail. It has the world’s smallest diameter at 5.6-16.8mm (equivalent to 34-101mm in a film camera), and is both quiet and fast, zooming from wide angle to telephoto in only 0.8 seconds. The high image quality of 4.0 effective megapixels (total 4.23 million pixels) is enhanced by Konica Minolta’s unique Hybrid adaptive A*IPS image processing technology, for images that look natural and faithfully reproduce every nuance in the subject.

The exceptionally fast autofocus performance is achieved through a new Hybrid Rapid AF algorithm which combines external AF and CCD image AF to deliver fast and precise focusing under subtly changing exposure conditions. The release time lag after AF/AE adjustments is an almost instantaneous 0.03 seconds, and lens retraction time has been shortened to about 0.6 seconds, so the entire process – turn on, shoot and turn off – can be accomplished in a snappy 1.5 seconds. Even with flash, it is a fast 3.5 seconds (with full flash), allowing the camera to react quickly and capture the scenes that users want.

Other features of the Revio KD-420Z include 2 x digital zoom, selectable ISO from 50 to 400, exposure compensation, selectable flash and white balance. The camera comes with lithium battery, battery charger, power supply cord, USB cable, CD Rom, strap and 16 MB SD card. It is expected to be available in the UK in November. The price has yet to be confirmed but is believed to be in the region of £300.00.
