WaterAid has launched a new campaign

Release Issued by WaterAid:

Would you drink this?

WaterAid has launched a new campaign ‘Would you drink this?’ Members of the public are invited to send photos of water they definitely wouldn’t drink to WaterAid’s website to be included in an online gallery.

There are already some famous faces in the gallery. See if you can spot Suggs (singer), Adam Hart-Davis (celebrity scientist), Charlie Dimmock (celebrity gardener), Fran Healy (singer), Sean Hughes (comedian), Renu Mehta (socialite and Fortune Forum founder) and Michael Eavis (Glastonbury festival organiser).

The campaign highlights the fact that over one billion people have to live without clean, safe water to drink. Millions of women and children spend hours each day walking to find water for their families. In the UK, we simply turn on the tap, but for people living in some of the poorest countries in the world, the nearest water source is often unsafe and contains waste, excrement and water-related diseases.

“By asking– “Would you drink this?” – we hope people will think about what it’s like living without clean water. For many of us, it’s unimaginable, but for one sixth of the world’s population it’s a daily reality that kills 5,000 children every day.”
Nick Edmans, WaterAid Head of Communications

The photographs will be displayed on the WaterAid website and will then form part of an exhibition that will tour the UK, raising awareness and urging the International community to prioritise water in the developing world.
