Sanyo's Xacti VPC-HD1 the world’s smallest and lightest camera capable of capturing high definition images and 5 MegaPixel Stills

Release Issued by Sanyo:

SANYO Takes the Xacti Series to a Whole New Level with the World’s Smallest and Lightest High Definition Movie Camera

Following hot on the heels of the slim and chic C6, SANYO is yet again expanding its innovative Xacti camera range with the innovative Xacti VPC-HD1 – an ultra stylish and compact High Definition (HD) portable movie camera that enables digital movies to be captured in glorious High Definition detail. A newly developed 2.2” OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) display has been incorporated in to the HD1 not only making it the World’s First High Definition Solid State Camcorder but also the world’s smallest and lightest camera capable of capturing high definition images and 5 MegaPixel Stills.

Complete with 2GB SD Memory Card!
The generous 2GB media card supplied gives the user an endless array of shooting options. When recording video in High Definition the Xacti HD1 is capable of recording at 1,280 x 720 pixels at 30 frames per second and records in the popular widescreen 16:9 format.

Fluid Motion 60 Frames per Second Video Recordings
Utilising the very latest in MPEG-4 technology with accompanying high quality AAC-LC stereo sound the HD1 can record video at an amazing 30 frames per second (1,280 x 720) and can also double the frame rate to 60 frames per second (640x480 pixels) giving even smoother and more detailed recordings. With the supplied 2GB media card you can select the best shooting option and choose from between 28 minutes of recording to over 1 hour and 20 minutes of recording to the removable media card. Alternatively video clips recorded at 30fps can be converted and played back at 60fps, through SANYO’s image-enhancement technology. Movies therefore take up less memory than with native 60fps recordings whilst offering comparably smooth playback.

High Quality Stereo Sound Recording
As you would expect, the HD1 offers superb stereo sound recording to match the quality of the captured video. By utilizing the latest in 48kHz, 16-bit, 2 channel sound AAC-LC (MPEG-4 audio) the sound provides a sense of reality to match the impressive High Definition movies. With a special noise reduction feature, perfect for windy conditions, the camera also features a dedicated terminal to which an external microphone can be added.

High Quality 5 Million Pixel Stills to Match!
If you’re not just content with shooting high quality HD movies you can also rely on the HD1 to give you glorious still images to match your video footage. Not only can you capture highly detailed 5 million pixel stills but the camera features an image interpolation function which will double the image to 10 million pixels, perfect for extra large A3 sized quality prints.

As an extra feature, you can also capture these high quality stills even whilst using the video recording function, simply press the shutter release to capture a section of your video footage.

High Quality Optics – 10x Optical Zoom Lens
The HD1’s 10x Optical Zoom Lens (f3.5 Aperture) can be used in conjunction with its 10x digital zoom function, providing up to 100x zoom capability. An additional conversion lens is an available option which will expand the cameras’ field of view and its range of shooting.

Large 2.2 Inch OLED Display – A SANYO First!
The future of LCD panel technology has even been built into the HD1 with the first OLED display to be featured on a SANYO digital camcorder.

Requiring substantially less battery power and with a refesh rate of more than 5,000 times faster than a conventional LCD panel the OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode Display) will show a silky smooth recording and playback of rapid movements, in addition the large SANYO OLED screen will give an expanded viewing angle for easy image framing, even from acute, side on angles.

Digital Recording for Expanded Possibilities – Playback Options
There are numerous playback options with the Xacti VPC-HD1, which comes complete with a handy docking station. Recorded images can be easily played back on a TV screen, the camera is conveniently equipped with a remote controller for operation at a distance, and if it is connected to a HDTV, users can enjoy high-definition images with no loss of image quality.

When connected to a video or DVD player, back-up copies of recorded content can be made during playback, and still images and video clips appear continuously and in chronological order.

Connection to a PC is made easy and with a simple drag and drop operation, users can save recorded video clips and still images onto a computer’s hard disk with ease. Included with the camera is a PC compatible kit with USB storage class for easy editing.

With the Xacti VPC-HD1, SANYO has combined style and quality, to offer consumers an ultra compact, high performance, high definition movie camera. This is the first HD movie camera to be launched by SANYO, and fifth in the Xacti range, which shows SANYO’s clear commitment to the rapidly growing HD market.
