ACDSee Photo Manager 8 combines ease-of-use for beginners with the potential to be configured for power users too.

Your photos can be automatically downloaded from your camera or memory card and added to its database. You can annotate your image files, add key words and rate images, categorise, etc. so you can easily find them again using powerful search facilities. There are batch renaming tools, slide show and Web gallery building tools, CD and VCD burning options along with simple and easy-to-use image editing and fixing features, including a very good one-click red-eye corrector and there is a new feature for adding text to your photos.

Power features include support for selected RAW image file formats, so you can see thumbnail views of your RAW images and preview them, RGB histogram displays, support for viewing and editing IPTC metadata fields and more.
ACDSee 8 Photo Manager's infinitely configurable on-screen layout has also been enhanced with new smart-docking window pane aids and there is a new Quick Search bar. Your image folders can also be backed up to external storage devices and synchronised to prevent loss of valuable images if your hard drive fails. ACD Systems report that the ACDSee database has been further optimised and speeded up too.
There is a lot more to say about ACDSee 8 Photo Manager than can be fitted onto this page. You can find out more from the ACDSee home page, or even better, try it out for yourself; there is a free trial download option available.
