Release Issued by BCAF:
Located At Battersea Arts Centre, London, 18-20 November, 2005
The Battersea Contemporary Art Fair (BCAF) (
www.bcaf.info), one of England’s largest and most invigorating artists’ exhibitions, returns for its second 2005 fixture on 18-20 November at London’s Battersea Arts Centre, Lavender Hill.
A must-visit for anyone interested in sculpture, print, photography and painting, the twice-yearly fair showcases the work of 150 established and up-and-coming artists. It is the largest show of its kind in the UK where artists sell their work directly to the public, commission free, without galleries or agencies acting as ‘middlemen’. As a result, buyers can speak to the artists about their inspirations and techniques and, in most cases, obtain a favourable price for original art.
Maria Scaman, exhibition director, comments: “BCAF has an excellent reputation in terms of the quality and diversity of work shown. We ensure young, budding artists participate, as well as mature professionals. The young artists quickly learn from the more established exhibitors and there’s a great deal of camaraderie at the show as people help one another and share advice and contacts.”
An established highlight of the fair is the popular Friday evening reception with drinks and live jazz music.
The event is open from 6-9pm on Friday 18 November and 11am-5pm on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 November at the Battersea Arts Centre, Battersea Old Town Hall, Lavender Hill, London, SW11 5TN. Tickets are available on the door and entry costs £6 / £4 concessions (accompanied children under 16 gain entry free of charge). Booking information for artists is at www.bcaf.info.
