Release Issued by Pixology:
Pixology signs deal with Boots to provide online photo processing service
London, UK. Pixology plc, the specialist in software and networks for digital photography, today announces that it has signed an agreement with Boots to supply the retailer with an online photographic printing service.
The service, made possible by Pixology's ONLINEPHOTOCENTER(tm) technology, will enable Boots' customers to order professionally processed prints and other photo merchandise directly from their home PC, which will then be posted back to them. The ability to pick up orders from a selected store will be added shortly after the site launches.
Hosted by Pixology, the fully featured photo website will be customised in line with Boots in-store branding and be able to offer all photo products, services, prices and promotions that customers can find in a Boots store.
As part of the agreement, Pixology will also supply Boots with its PICTURESUITETM software to be distributed in-store to customers who use the film-to-CD service. Again, designed for Boots own-label brand, Pixology's PICTURESUITETM includes revenue-generating applications for printing and sharing pictures as well as allowing customers to display, organise and share their pictures easily.
Pixology believes online photo processing will continue to serve a growing number of digital camera users, particularly in light of the numbers of people switching to broadband internet services and benefiting from high-speed access. According to NOP, two fifths of all UK internet users now use broadband and usage is up 52% in the last six months*. Overall, there is now a total of 26.8 million internet users in the UK, accounting for 58% of the population.
Yuval Yashiv, CEO of Pixology plc, said:
"We are delighted that Boots has chosen Pixology's ONLINEPHOTOCENTERTM to deliver its online photofinishing service. The freedom our "white label" solution gives retailers in terms of marketing their own brand photofinishing services makes it an increasingly attractive proposition. Working with Boots, we look forward to providing customers a speedy, cost effective and convenient means of ordering prints online."
Nicola Lewis, Category Manager, Boots Photo, said:
"Boots has been at the forefront of delivering customers new ways to embrace digital technology and this new service will further enhance the service and expertise on offer to our customers."
