Samsung starts 2005 as it means to go on with the launch of the new seven mega-pixel Digimax V700 digital camera. Hot on the footsteps of the V70, V50 and V6, the V700 is the latest addition to the critically acclaimed V-Series.

Representing the third generation of the V-Series family, the V700 has revolutionary good looks and a host of advanced features including 4cm macro mode, a huge 2-inch LCD screen and advanced manual controls. The aluminum body even comes in a range of super-stylish colours - silver, red and black - making the V700 a very handsome piece of kit.

Set to retail for under £300, the V700 is one of the most advanced point-and-shoot digital still cameras on the market today.

Key features include:
7 mega-pixels:
The 7.4 mega-pixel 1/1.8" CCD sensor allows users to capture amazing details.

Lens:
With its world-class f/2.8 ~ 5.1 Schneider 7.8mm ~ 23.4mm lens (equivalent to a 38 ~ 114mm lens in 35mm film) the camera provides an enormous array of features in one sleek package to help the user get sharper pictures. The macro mode captures images as close as 4cm, while the 3x optical and 10x digital zoom extends the range of the Schneider Kreuznach lens into the super-telephoto range.

LCD Screen:
The 2.0-inch TFT LCD screen provides a large area to compose shots and gives access to the camera's wider range of creative controls. The intuitive user interface allows users to easily navigate the camera's menu of features and capabilities.

Still Image Capture and Exposure:
Photographers have a full range of custom choices including a variety of exposure modes, five ISO settings, five flash settings and more.

The V700 utilizes a combination mechanical and electronic shutter to capture images at up to 1/2000th of a second. The Digimax V700 has an auto mode, allowing optimal exposure.

It also supports Aperture priority, Shutter priority, programmable and fully manual modes for creative shooting. It even has a live histogram incorporated to help the photographer expose the shots better.

The Digimax V700 can capture still images in single and continuous modes and store them as TIFF or JPEG. Auto White Balance (AWB), Auto Exposure bracketing (AEB) or Auto Focus bracketing (AFB) modes are included to help the user get the shots they want.

The Digimax V700 includes preprogrammed settings designed for some typical, and also some difficult to master, shooting environments. These modes include Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-up, Sunset, Dawn, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach & Snow, Night and Text.

Other new features include composite shooting where a series of images can be combined to form one image file and a series of highlight templates where preset areas of the picture can have the focus softened.

Movie capture:
The camera also has the ability to capture high quality MPEG-4 movie clips at up to 30 frames-per-second and to a size of 640 x 480. The V700 also features a new Movie Clip Stabilizer and carries Movie Edit functions in the camera. Also in the package is handy video editing software for a further chance to get creative on the computer.

Data Storage and Power Sources:
The V700 also takes advantage of the small form-factor of SD/MMC storage cards with guaranteed storage of up to 1GB. With its thin design, the V700 comes with a rechargeable 3V Li-ion battery (SLB-1137) from Samsung.

Transfer of images:
The V700 transfers images faster via its built-in USB 2.0 connection and comes with software including Digimax Viewer, ArcSoft PhotoImpression, ArcSoft VideoImpression and Digimax Reader. The Digimax V700 can also be connected to TV's (NTSC or PAL external monitors) for image and movie playback via the included connectors.

The V700 also offers Pictbridge technology, allowing users to connect the camera directly to a printer via the USB cable and output images from the camera's internal memory or SD card. The camera also supports DPOF and EXIF2.2 technology.

There's also a handy internal editing facility allowing the user to crop and resize images.

Ideal for either the casual snap shooter or the advanced photographer, the V700 offers fully automatic and manual controls. From point and shoot to shutter priority to aperture priority all the way to full manual, the V700 has it all.
