Super slim compact digital camera DMC-FX7 / FX2 incorporate advanced MEGA O.I.S. with large LCD monitor
Panasonic is proud to announce the arrival of the DMC-FX2 and DMC-FX7, heirs to the DMC-FX1 and DMC-FX5 LUMIX digital cameras. Stylish, sophisticated and packed with features, the new models are designed to help you make the most of your photographic creativity.
The DMC-FX2 and FX7’s predecessors were the world’s first compact cameras to feature Panasonic’s industry leading Mega Optical Image Stabliser (OIS), and this feature has been fully developed into the new models. The MEGA OIS allows photos to be taken with natural atmosphere in low light situations, and sharp photos to be taken without a tripod in zoom situations – a feature previously only enjoyed by professional cameras. The Mega OIS also helps eradicate the effect of hand-shake on an otherwise perfect take, and eliminates the blurring caused by unintentional movement at the time of capture. The result is clear sharp images, exactly as you wanted.
The 5.0-megapixel DMC-FX7 and 4.0-megapixel DMC-FX2 incorporate 3x optical zoom (equivalent to 35 mm to 105 mm on a 35 mm film camera). The FX2 and FX7 feature an LCD monitor which is astonishingly large for such compact cameras (2.5-inch for FX7 and 2.0-inch for FX2) – ensuring that subjects can be easily seen in all conditions. The LCD is equipped with Power LCD Mode, which increases brightness by 40 percent to make it easier to see even outdoors in bright sunlight.
All these features and technical improvements are contained in the compact 94.1 mm x 50 mm x 24.2 mm-thin casing, almost 33 percent smaller than its predecessors – perfect for fitting into your pocket. The FX2 and FX7 have a sophisticated design and are elegantly finished in crisp silver.
As digital cameras become smaller and lighter, user hand-shake can occur more frequently, resulting in blurry images. MEGA O.I.S. offsets jitters every time, using a gyrosensor that detects even the slightest shaking of the camera and sends a signal to a linear motor, which adjusts the lens elements. In the new models, this compensation system is integrated with the Venus Engine II, so handshaking is detected and adjusted faster to produce clearer and sharper images. The improved MEGA O.I.S. allows perfect telephoto shots and night photography without using a tripod.
The DMC-FX2 and FX7 boast the enhanced Panasonic Venus Engine high speed image processing system, which delivers superb image rendering and unmatched processing speed. The Venus Engine II has improved horizontal and vertical resolution by more than 10 percent compared to our previous Venus Engine, reduced the noise in dark areas and achieved more precise color reproduction with an advanced 12-axis independent color adjustment. In addition, the Burst Shooting Mode allows you to capture up to ten full-size images in standard mode on the FX2 (seven full-size images for the FX7) at a lightening quick four frames per second (three frames per second for the FX7). Particularly helpful when photographing a moving object, the Burst Shooting Mode allows the user to take a series of shots and select the best from these to keep.
With the DMC-FX2 and DMC-FX7, an AF method that can be selected according to the shooting situation; 9-point AF, 3-point AF, 1-point AF, or spot AF. Meanwhile in the 3-point AF, high-speed AF is achieved by obtaining the focus information from the CCD by double frequency. In addition, AF assist lamp is newly equipped for expanding the AF capability even at night or under low-light conditions.
With such a wealth of innovation included in the well-designed and compact casing, both digital cameras offer superb performance and impressive quality – the ultimate compact digital cameras.
