Released by Vitalise:
Last Chance to enter Charity Holiday Photo Competition!
There is just one month left for budding photographers to enter their best holiday pictures for a prestigious competition run by national disability charity, Vitalise.
The winning images will take pride of place at the prestigious 'Inspiring Images' photographic exhibition, to be held at Christie's auction house in London on 23 February 2005. The judging panel will include TV presenter and broadcaster, Esther Rantzen and politician Mo Mowlam, who will lead the judges in selecting winning images from two categories: Promoting Positive Images of Disability and Artistic Merit. Winners will receive valuable holiday and travel-related prizes.
Vitalise, which changed its name on Monday 1 November from Winged Fellowship Trust, provides essential breaks for disabled people and their carers at five fully-accessible centres across the UK. The charity contacted hundreds of celebrities and public figures for their favourite holiday photos and these will be shown alongside the wining entries at the exhibition and auctioned off by a Christie's auctioneer during the evening. Other luxury auction items that will be on offer include signed memorabilia from The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and Pierce Brosnan.
Competition judge and TV personality, Esther Rantzen said: "Some of my own happiest memories have been of the holidays I spent with my family. However, for many disabled people and their carers, their only chance to get away all year is when they go on a break with Vitalise."
She continued: "There is now just one month to go to enter the Inspiring Images photographic competition, and I would urge everyone to do so, for the chance to win some great prizes for themselves and to help raise vital funds to ensure even more disabled people can benefit from the services of this great charity."
Other celebrity contributors include playwright Alan Aykbourne, actors Sir Ian McKellen, Miriam Margolyes and Brian Blessed, TV presenters Valerie Singleton and Denise van Outen, comedians Sir Norman Wisdom and Victoria Wood and champion jockey, Richard Dunwoody.
