While HP is setting new standards for 3MP affordability with its new Photosmart 715 model (click here), £349 remains out of reach for many. Today HP took the opportunity to unveil a pair of more affordable models, the Photosmart 318 (right) and the Photosmart 612. The former will be available from next month while the latter arrives in November.
At DPN we urge first time buyers to go for at least 2 megapixel specification and HP seems to agree as both the 318 and 612 have 2MP sensors. The 318 is priced £179, but doesn’t include an optical zoom lens - just a 2x digital zoom. The 612 has a 2x optical zoom, though pricing was not available to us today.
Both have 8MB of internal memory but can also accept Compact Flash Type I cards.
