Last week was Sony Europe’s annual consumer IT products showcase, this year held in Geneva, Switzerland.

We were privileged to be invited to see what was new in Geneva. For DPN readers the two most significant new products shown by Sony included the PEGA-MSC1 Camera Stick (pictured left at the the event presentation), plus the new colour-screen PEG 770C Clié Palm-compatible PDA.

The Camera Stick is a minute digital camera featuring a resolution of around 100K pixels - about one third the resolution of a 640x480 VGA screen. A non-working prototype was on display. Sony representatives remained tight-lipped regarding scheduled availability and price.

However, the new Clié (pictured left with prototype Camera Stick attached) is beginning to ship now, boasts a 320x320 resolution TFT colour screen, which is the sharpest in the Palm world and the device is bundled with both still photo and video clip management software.

Sony also demonstrated its latest Bluetooth-equipped Vaio notebooks, CRT and LCD displays, plus 802.11b wireless networking. The recently launched  DSC-P5 and DSC-F707 digicams (click here).
