For under £400, Fujifilm is packing a lot of specification into its new FinePix 2800 Zoom model.
The SLR-style digicam uses a 110,000 pixel LCXD viewfinder. The lens is a 6X optical (38-570mm equivalent) part supplemented by a modest 1.25X digital extender.
Other goodies include a 60 second (max) movie clip mode, voice recording mode and a PC WebCam mode.
So far, so good. So what’s the catch? There isn’t one really - for under £400 with a 6X lens you’d be optimistic to expect much more than a 2 megapixel CCD sensor, which is exactly what you get with the 2800. There is no rechargeable batter in the box either. Instead you get a four alkaline AAs, though a charger is an optional extra. At least a decently sized 16MB SmartMedia memory card is standard.
We’ve not had one to look at yet and the 2800 isn’t due to ship until next month, but one thing that makes it stand out is its styling. What do you think of its looks, or anything else? Click here to let us know!
