Minolta will release its latest compact digicam in the next couple of weeks. The 2 megapixel Dimage E203 is a smaller sibling to the 2.3MP Dimage E201 that was launched back May.
Described by Minolta as not much larger than a deck of cards, the E203 boasts aspheric optics in its 3X optical zoom lens that is supplemented by a 2x digital extender. The E203 features extensive automated options, including a selection of scene programs. An optical viewfinder is accompanied by a 1.5 inch LCD view screen comprising 120,000 pixels.
A 2.1MP CCD image sensor chip delivers 1600x1200 (1.92MP) maximum resolution images. Unusually for a point and shoot camera, the E203 has a very fast maximum shutter speed of 1/2000th second - ideal for freezing action when there is enough light. A 15 second movie clip mode is also provided.
The Dimage E203 is another new member of the growing Secure Digital (SD) memory card club. An 8MB card is included. Battery power comes in the form of a single non-rechargeable CR-V3 lithium battery or a pair of AA alkaline or NiMH rechargeables. A recharger is not included in the £399.99 inc.VAT price.
