A neat new storage device that featured during today’s Windows XP launch (click here) is Imation’s diminutive RipGO! mini CD-R burner and digital audio player.
The RipGO! was heralded as an example of one of the new generation of multimedia devices that is plug and play compatible with Windows XP.
The palm-sized Imation RipGO! is claimed to be the smallest device for both recording and playing compressed music using CD-Rs. It can also be used as a data CD-R recorder, with a capacity of up to 185MB using mini (80mm) CD-R discs. For digital photographers - that’s 185 1MB digital images, for example, or up to 6 hours of MP3 music. Standard CDs are 120mm in diameter.
The device can connect to a PC via a USB cable and can play back for up to five hours using a rechargeable battery.
RipGO! is expected to reach the shops at the end of December with a suggested price of €400, or roughly £260.
