Olympus has today announced a rather familiar looking digicam in the form of the C-3020Zoom (known as the C-3100 in some markets, including the US).

Dixons has been selling, exclusively the UK, the C-3000Z, a camera with fundamentally the same specification as the C-3020Z since the beginning of the year.

Both models are more affordable versions of the C-3040Z. Instead of the 3040Z’s f/1.8 3x optical zoom lens, the 3000 and 3020 get a f/2.8 maximum aperture. But apart from that, all three share similar compact and lightweight bodies and control layout, plus the same 3.34 megapixel CCD sensor.

Where the 3020 does differ from he 3000 is that it has Olympus’ new and improved control menu system, it is supplied with a 16MB smartmedia card instead of a 8MB card and internally, the 3020 has a 32MB image buffer instead of the 3000’s 16MB buffer. This means the 3020 can sustain continuous shooting longer.

Supply of the C-3020Z will not be limited to Dixons and at £499, is roughly the same as Dixons price for the older 3000 version.
