Seagate portable USB hard drives

20 and 40GB DiskStor portable hard disk drives featuring USB connectivity have been announced by the removable storage division of hard drive maker, Seagate. Both DiskStor models are bundled with ACDsee digital photo management and Datakeeper document management applications.
“DiskStor offers an affordable, portable storage solution for accessing and sharing important storage-intensive files, programs, photos, music, videos and more,” said Bob Hawkins, director of product line management at Seagate RSS.
Portable hard disk drive technology offers a fast and convenient solution for managing archives of digital photos. However, DPN must point out that magnetic storage systems, like hard drives, are vulnerable to magnetic and physical shock damage and should be protected using a suitable backup solution.
US list prices for 20 and 40GB DiskStors, respectively are $269 (approx. £192) and $349 (£250). Europe-specific models are in the pipeline.
