Olympus continues to make good use of its archteytpal sliding cover compact camera design with the introduction of its latest incarnation in the form of the Camedia C-300 Zoom.

This 3 megapixel model is priced under £300. One new feature to this model is a 7-mode virtual dial selection button. A new release of Olympus Camedia software is included with the C-300Z for the first time. Version 4 has added image enhancement functions and some templates for producing humorous images. It’s now easier to share pictures with friends and family through emails. The new software also lets the user create HTML (Web page) image galleries.

Continuous high speed shooting is another feature of the C-300Z. It can sustain just under 2 frames per second for a continuous sequence of up to 13 frames.

The C-300Z is equipped with a 2.8x zoom (36-100mm equivalent) lens and this can be extended in range by up to 3.6x using a digital zooming facility.

The Olympus C-300Z will start shipping in the UK in early June and its official price is £299.99 inc.VAT.
