The official Canon CP-100 press release:

22nd February 2002,

Digital Photo’s In An Instant With Canon’s New
Direct Card Photo Printer CP-100

Canon, a leader in photographic and imaging technology, introduces the latest addition to its  ‘Direct Print’ range. The Card Photo Printer CP-100 connects directly to Canon’s range of digital cameras without the need for a PC and effortlessly produces exceptional quality photos.

With its cool translucent blue and metallic styling, the CP-100 is the ultimate imaging accessory for the Canon digital camera owner. Canon continuously delivers incredible performance in small packages and the new direct printer CP-100 is no exception, providing true mobility and the ability to print images virtually anywhere.

Robert King, Marketing Manager says, “Direct print will really gain momentum this year with Canon’s range of supporting cameras and printers. We are offering consumers the complete imaging solution by allowing them to simply connect their Canon digital camera to a direct printer for high quality photos without the need for a PC. The CP-100 is simple, easy and fun to use for consumers that are new to digital technology as well as the advanced user.”

The CP-100 allows users to chose from three print sizes: 10x15 cm, credit card size and the smaller sticker size. The 10x15 cm is the most popular size for traditional photo’s allowing these digital prints to be stored in a traditional photo album.

The CP-100 uses dye-sublimation technology that can re-create photos with millions of colours. The printer builds up a full colour image by merging three separate colour layers; yellow, magenta and cyan, and then applies a protective layer that adds the durability of a traditional print. The CP-100 produces high photo quality prints that look and feel like a traditional silver halide print.

Digital photos don’t come easier or faster, all it takes is just 3 easy steps to print a high quality image. Simply connect the Canon digital camera to the printer by means of a dedicated cable, select the image from the automatic menu, press print and watch as the print is developed in just over 80 seconds.

Should AC power be unavailable, the optional rechargeable battery pack and in car power kit ensures the continued enjoyment of making prints on the move.  An optional PC/Mac Computer connection kit will be available from autumn 2002 for those wanting to experience the same high quality prints from images stored on a PC.

CP-100 is compatible with Canon’s latest digital cameras, PowerShot A100, A30, A40, G2 Black, A10*, A20*, S30*, S40*, G2*, IXUS v*, IXUS 300*
