 New papers and hopefully a cure to recent Canon consumables supply problems
Canon’s Photo Paper Pro ink-jet high gloss photo paper is remarkable stuff, but it’s not cheap. Canon has moved to satisfy the demand for more affordable paper and this has resulted in the announcement of Matte and glossy versions of a new, lower priced paper family, called Photo Paper Plus. Full details of the new papers are detailed below in the official Canon UK press release. It’s also worthwhile mentioning that we are expecting the recent and much discussed problems with availability of certain Canon ink-jet consumables, like Photo Paper Pro paper and BCI-6 photo ink cartridges, to be sorted out soon. We understand that Canon underestimated demand for these lines and the supply shortfall has not been restricted to the UK. Photo Paper Plus Glossy and Matte Photo Paper Canon has announced two new additions to its ever-increasing photo media range - Photo Paper Plus Glossy and Matte Photo Paper. Photo Paper Plus Glossy (PP-101 A4) Photo Paper Plus Glossy is the new low cost, professional quality offering within the Canon photo media range. It is priced at around £10.49 Inc VAT for 20 sheets, offering a significant cost saving compared to the top of the range professional use Photo Paper Pro PR-101 that costs around £10.99 for 15 sheets. It is a premium quality photo paper, which offers 15 years light fastness* and a similar finish to the high-end media it is based upon the critically acclaimed Photo Paper Pro (25 years light fastness*). This excellent new media is also available in a borderless 4"x6" format (PP-101 4"x6" for Borderless Printing). This format allows users to achieve a genuine photo finish every time they print using one of Canon's latest Bubble Jet printers, which feature edge-to-edge, full bleed printing capabilities. It is priced at around £3.99 for 20 sheets. Photo Paper Plus Glossy will be available for sale in the UK in October 2002. Matte Photo Paper (MP-101 A4) In response to increasing demand in the market, Canon is also delighted to announce its first matte photo paper addition to the Canon Photo Media range. Matte Photo Paper, a matte alternative to Glossy Photo Paper (GP-301N), will allow Canon Bubble Jet printer users to produce outstanding quality prints with a classic matte finish. MP-101 is 170 gsm in weight and will be available in A4 format. Like Photo Paper Plus Glossy, Matte Photo Paper also offers up to 15-years light fastness* and has a high brightness level resulting in images that are vivid and crisp, with exceptionally clear detail. Matte Photo Paper also offers users great value with 50 sheets per pack and a recommended retail price of around £9.49 Inc VAT. It will be available for sale in the UK in October 2002. The two new medias are designed to achieve optimum output when used in conjunction with Canon's Bubble Jet printers. They are broadly backwards compatible allowing a wide range of users to benefit from the excellent quality achieved.
