17th April 2002 - Hewlett-Packard Company today introduces a top of the range, 4 Megapixel digital camera - the HP Photosmart 812. This compact, video-enabled camera features HP’s exclusive automatic e-mailing function and is for photographers who require stylish, simple to use equipment which guarantees high quality results. There is also an optional docking unit, so users can easily recharge batteries or connect the camera to a television, PC or Deskjet printer.

Tim Potter, Image Capture Product Manager for HP UK, says, “HP has enormous strength in the digital imaging arena with our market leading scan and print technology.  We are in the unique position to be able to harness this technological leadership to develop affordable, high quality digital cameras for consumers with a range of fun, exciting features.  With one-minute video and audio recording plus Instant Share, you can capture more than just a single moment such as England’s winning goal and the crowd going wild in the World Cup and then email it to those who couldn’t be there!”

HP’s exclusive Instant Share technology is a brand new feature for digital cameras and is an excellent example of capitalising upon technological expertise to create unique product benefits. Instant Share has been developed to save time on-line and keep family and friends in the frame. It automatically e-mails pre-selected shots to friends and family as soon as the camera is connected to the computer.

The HP Photosmart 812 provides excellent photographic quality and takes only two rechargeable AA batteries. Its four Megapixel resolution, 3x zoom and Pentax precision lens ensure top quality images – even in the hands of an amateur. Connection to HP Deskjets has never been easier and the HP Photosmart 812 can now connect directly via a USB cable – no need to turn on your PC.

The Photosmart Camera Dock 8881 has been developed to help users get the most from the Photosmart 812 camera. Supplied with 4 rechargeable batteries that charge when the camera is docked, the unit connects the camera to your PC, TV or printer to download, display, print and send photos.
