Official Fujifilm press release:

AXIA SLIMSHOT

Release Date: 3rd April 2002

Fujifilm has today (3rd April 2002)announced the Fujifilm @xia SlimShot digital camera- the world’s thinnest camera*

At only 6mm thin, the credit card sized @xia SlimShot with its metallic silver shell is ultra-compact, sleek and remarkably affordable. It even gets a mention in the Guinness World Records™ as the world’s thinnest camera*.

As well as being slim enough to take anywhere, anytime, the @xia SlimShot’s controls are simple and easy to master. After framing with the optical viewfinder, simply point and click – it makes taking great pictures easy, convenient and fun.

The @xia SlimShot’s unique automatic brightness adaptive technology – Autobrite™ – ensures that bright regions of a scene never saturate, while dimmer details always remain crisp and clear – even in difficult scenes such as those involving back lighting. The end result: perfect pictures, every time – regardless of the shooting conditions. Autobrite™ also improves image quality by customising the camera’s characteristics to each scene based on its specific lighting conditions.

The @xia SlimShot’s internal long-life, ultra-thin rechargeable lithium polymer battery and unique power saving technologies enable the camera to capture 600 – 1,000 pictures between each recharge. The battery recharges via the USB cable whilst downloading images, removing the need for a separate AC adapter or battery charger.

The @xia SlimShot delivers a 640 x 480 pixel image – ideal for sending images via email or posting on the web –and boasts an internal memory of 8MB, enough to hold approximately 26 VGA or 104 QVGA images.

The @xia SlimShot comes complete with a suite of easy to use image transfer and photo-editing software. Users can download images to a PC or Mac quickly and easily via USB connectivity, and manipulate or enhance their digital snapshots or simply e-mail them to friends and family.
