Fujifilm’s new weapon in battle of the bulge

3rd April - 2002
By Ian Burley

Update: 4th April - Pricing. The new Fujifilm Axia SlimShot is expected to retail for £79.99.

By the look of things, digicams are getting anorexic, if the new Fujifilm Axia SlimShot is anything to go by.

It’s officially the thinnest camera in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records.

However, this is no competitor to Minolta’s technically sophisticated supermodel, the Dimage X (click here), as the SlimShot is a non-(optical)-zooming, relatively low resolution (640x480 VGA) snap-shooter that doubles as a Webcam.

But Fujifilm points out that the SlimShot is ideal for email photos and Web illustrations. It also has a long life rechargeable battery and 8MB of internal memory which is good for 26 VGA or 104 QVGA images.
