Nikon And BT Openzone Come Together To Support Professional Photographers At This Year’s Open Golf

Nikon Professional Services and BT Openzone will be working together for the first time at this year’s Golf Open to support professional photographers who attend the event. The Open takes place from 15th – 18th July 2004 in Royal Troon, Scotland.

The partnership of Nikon and BT Openzone will allow photographers currently using Nikon’s professional camera, the D2H, the opportunity to transmit images directly for the first time from their camera to a picture desk anywhere in the world within seconds through Wi-Fi technology installed by BT Openzone.

Nikon at The Open
Nikon has been a patron of The Open for a number of years, and as well as giving photographers the opportunity to use Wi-Fi technology on site it through BT Openzone, it also provides a number of services to professional photographers during the event.

Throughout the Championships Nikon Professional Services Depot is on hand in the media centre to loan and demonstrate the latest Nikon equipment for photographers to trial. Also a full repair centre is available to support photographers whose equipment may require some extra attention or just a need an annual overhaul.

Also available on-site is a unique education suite, fully staffed by qualified Nikon Training Professional, to allow photographers to gain valuable knowledge about their equipment and sample the latest products without the need to go on a formal training course. This is a great opportunity for photographers to gain new skills especially when time is critical.

Both services are offered during the set up period and then throughout the whole event to ensure that accredited photographers make the most of the fantastic photo opportunities that the championship offers.

BT Openzone at The Open
BT Openzone provides users with secure, high-speed access to corporate networks and the internet. The service allows anyone with a wi-fi enabled laptop or PDA to send and receive large quantities of information at broadband speed.

At The Open this year, BT Openzone have installed wifi hotspots in the press centre and wire room so that journalists and photographers can wirelessly tap into the internet at broadband speeds. A number of price plans are available but during The Open the media can purchase a special 7 day access voucher from the BT Openzone helpdesk which will be situated alongside the Nikon helpdesk for a special price of £45 (normal cost £105).
