Turner Falls, MA (March 8, 2012) - The Hallmark Institute of Photography announces today its next weekend workshop - Intro to DSLR Video for Professional Photographers. Taking place at the Hallmark Institute in Turner Falls, MA, on Saturday March 17th and Sunday March 18th, this two-day workshop, taught by New Media/Video Instructor Dennis O'Clair, is ideal for professional photographers looking to learn or improve upon their DSLR video skills. Click here to register.

Attendees will benefit from Hallmark's newly created Video Production Suite where the workshop will take place. This new suite includes nearly 5,000 square feet dedicated to video production and editing. There is an editing lab, an audio recording studio and video production studio. Equipment includes Canon 5D Mark II cameras, Zacuto viewfinders, Manfrotto and Benro video heads, iKan location monitors, Rode microphones, Zoom H4n recorders, Cinevate accessories and sliders, Profoto, Lowel and iKan lighting, 24" iMac computers and Final Cut Pro Studio.

"This weekend workshop is all about taking a professional photographer's workflow and digital image making skills and adapting them for video," said Dennis O'Clair, Hallmark Institute's New Media / Video Instructor. "Attendees will walk away from this workshop with a solid technical foundation and creative inspirations they will need to start producing the professional video their clients are demanding and their competitors may already be offering."

Simplicity and adaptation will be the overall theme of this Intro to DSLR Video class. Through demonstrations, discussions, and hands on exercises attendees will learn the technical aspects of video capture, including camera set up, frame rates, picture profiles and white balance.*

Through hands on demonstrations in metering, focusing and exposure techniques, photographers will learn to adapt their photography skills to video capture. Additional exercises in lighting and camera movement in Hallmark's production studios will show attendees how to apply their creative skills to the art of video/film making. Audio will also be discussed and demonstrated, including dual system audio and syncing in post production. Workflow, file management and editing options will be demonstrated. iMac workstations will be provided for the workflow demonstrations. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own cameras and gear. However, equipment is not required. Hallmark can provide cameras and all the accessories necessary for a successful and fulfilling workshop experience.

This complete, two-day weekend workshop costs $450. For Hallmark Alumni the cost is $400. And for ASMP, APA, ASP, PPA, or WPPI members the cost is $400.
