Learn About Photography In The Place Where It All Began
Lacock Photography has opened in Wiltshire offering photography courses from September 2011 where visitors will be able to learn the art of photography in the village where it all began.
Lacock is already well known for photography and is the home of the Fox Talbot Museum which tells of the story of Henry Fox Talbot. The process of reproducing images through negatives was discovered by Henry Fox Talbot in 1835, when he reproduced a grainy image of a window in Lacock Abbey.
The art of photography has come on a long way since then and at Lacock Photography the courses, most of which last for one day, teach the techniques of modern digital photography.
Courses also include beginner’s classes, creative photography and wedding photography. Additional courses are currently being planned which will include landscape workshops and photographing real people.
The full training school will officially open in September and is a purpose built studio complete with a computer suite, printers and editing software.
Courses cost from £95 per day and include full training, refreshments and lunch. On average a course will start at 10am and conclude by 4pm.
In the meantime visitors are still welcome to browse the gallery and purchase prints from local and regional photographers.
A programme of free exhibitions will be held throughout the year. The first exhibition has a Polar theme and will run from October to December.
In addition to the photography school, Lacock Photography is also opening a B&B facility, meaning anyone on a course of two or more days can stay on-site. It also offers a chance to combine two courses as weekends often offer two separate one day courses. The new B&B will open in December and will comprise three double en-suite rooms attractively furnished and decorated to a high standard. A double room will cost £85 per night including breakfast.
