by Julia Burley

New compact super wide zoom from Tokina

Kenro has announced the UK release of the Tokina AT-X 16.5-135 DX, a compact super wide zoom lens.

This new addition to Tokina's acclaimed range of high quality optics begins at 16.5mm, this gives photographers a wider angle of view than most lenses in its class that start at 18mm. In full format 35mm terms, the AT-X 16.5-135 offers an equivalent angle of view of 25-200mm. The lens is perfect for general purpose use, although is particularly suited to scenic and travel photography.

The lens uses an optical design that benefits from three aspherical elements, one all glass precision-moulded element and two compound elements yielding high contrast. Additionally two Super-low Dispersion (SD) glass elements correct chromatic aberration.

The AT-X 16.5-135 DX has a newly designed high-precision mechanical zoom cam system which minimizes play and eliminates zoom creep. It is available with a either a Canon EOS or Nikon DX fit, and has an RRP of £816.

"This lens is a great 'all-rounder' so is a really handy addition to any photographer's bag," says Kenro Managing Director, Paul Kench. "The feedback we receive from customers, together with the reviews Tokina lenses attract, show that they are continuing to push the boundaries of optical excellence."

Kenro is the official UK distributor for Tokina lenses. See www.kenro.co.uk for details.
